Apollo Tyres to Hit the Brakes in Enschede facility, Netherlands - A New Chapter Await

Apollo Tyres Ltd has confirmed it will cease tyre production and related operations at its Enschede facility in the Netherlands in summer 2026. Increased labour and energy costs, ongoing inflation, and a reduction in demand (in certain tyre segments) – predominantly Spacemaster and agriculture tyres – were fundamental considerations in Apollo Tyres Ltd’s decision. The company mentioned that increased competition, particularly from low-cost manufacturers, also made it financially unviable to continue operations at the Enschede facility for the long term. 

 

Employees were informed during a town hall meeting and formal Request for Advice has been submitted to the Works Council of the plant. "Despite our efforts to reduce costs over several years, inflation continued to erode those cost benefits. You are now left with no other decisions but to cease production," stated Benoit Rivallant, President of Apollo Tyres NL BV. "We will listen and continue engagement with employees, the Works Council and all stakeholders as part of the consultation process." The implementation of the decision is subject to ongoing consultation and approval from the Supervisory Board.

 

Apollo Tyres Ltd, which is based in Gurugram, India, said business would not change for the current operations in the short term, and they would continue to communicate with customers and suppliers during any transitional period.
