Ashok Leyland Tightens Grip on Switch Mobility India, Seeks Profitability

Ashok Leyland has made a strategic change in its strategy towards its electric vehicle subsidiary, Switch Mobility. The firm intends to enact tighter cost control strategies for Switch Mobility India in the next two years with a view to enhancing operating efficiency. Taking a big decision, Ashok Leyland has chosen not to pursue any fresh equity investment in Switch UK, but rather invest all resources in Indian operations. The top management showed confidence that Switch Mobility India would achieve profit after tax (PAT) breakeven in fiscal year 2026. This was in accordance with previous estimations of break-even on EBITDA for India by Q1/Q2 FY26. The move is Ashok Leyland's focus on developing its EV business while ensuring financial discipline as the company looks to further diversify its electric bus and light commercial vehicle line in the developing Indian market.
