Automotive Alliance Under Review: CCI Seeks Public Wisdom on Bharat Forge-AAM Merger

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has sought public views on the joint venture of Bharat Forge Limited and AAM India Manufacturing Private Limited. The move is taken to elicit stakeholder responses on the envisaged market impact. The proposed joint venture announced recently aims to capitalize on the strength of the two companies in the business of manufacturing parts of the automobile sector. Bharat Forge, India's leading forging company, and AAM India, a subsidiary of American Axle & Manufacturing, want to combine their strength to strengthen their market position. The public comment invitation by the CCI is a part of its routine exercise to ensure a level playing field and balance any possible anti-competitive impact. Interested stakeholders have been given a specific time period to submit their comments, which would be reviewed by the CCI before finalizing the proposed transaction.
