Travelers and adventure enthusiasts can finally heave a sigh of relief as the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has finally re-launched its legendary Delhi-Manali-Leh bus service after an 8.5-month break, re-opening one of India's most picturesque and most challenging road journeys....

Service Re-Opening: The HRTC Delhi-Manali-Leh bus service that had been shut temporarily due to heavy snowfall and slippery road conditions since last September was re-opened on June 13, 2025, following the clearance of high altitude passes by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
Route & Time: Covering around 990–1,026 km, the bus operates from Delhi, Chandigarh, Mandi, Manali, Atal Tunnel, Keylong, and traverses five of the world's highest Himalayan passes—Baralacha La (16,020 ft), Lachung La (16,620 ft), and Tanglang La (17,480 ft)—before Leh is reached.
Timings: The bus departs from Delhi's Kashmiri Gate ISBT at 12:15 pm and is expected to reach Leh the next day at 7:00 pm, covering the distance in about 31–36 hours without a break.
Fare: The fare of the ticket ranges from ₹1,657 to ₹1,830 and therefore it is one of the cheapest means to enjoy this trans-Himalayan experience.
Daily Service: The bus will run daily, subject to weather and traffic conditions, for local and foreign tourists.
Safety Precautions: Safety and first-aid kits are installed in the buses, and the drivers have received special training in driving at high altitudes.
Tourism Boost: The opening is also expected to provide a huge boost to tourism and local economies of Ladakh, Lahaul, Spiti, and Kullu, with local hoteliers and tourism operators welcoming the move.
