Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus welcomed Chinese investors to avail the massive business opportunities of Bangladesh at an investment forum in Beijing on March 28, 2025. Referring to Bangladesh's geographical position and rank as the second-largest RMG manufacturer in the world, Yunus emphasized the country's youthful and untapped human resource pool for intra-regional trade with Nepal, Bhutan, and India's northeast region. Bangladesh lured $2.1 billion in grants, loans, and investments from China during Yunus' visit, including $1 billion of commitment by 30 Chinese companies for the Chinese Industrial Economic Zone in Chattogram. Teesta River Restoration and modernization of Mongla Port were also in the agenda. Yunus stressed connectivity and infrastructure expansion as key drivers of growth, urging investors to set up factories in Bangladesh to leverage its access to the global market.
