In anticipation of the March 7 release of The Waking of a Nation on Sony LIV, acclaimed filmmaker Ram Madhvani and his team visited Amritsar's Golden Temple to seek blessings. The series delves into the events surrounding the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, with actor Taaruk Raina portraying lawyer Kantilal Sahni. Madhvani expressed a deep interest in colonialism and its associated issues, stating that these themes have long troubled him. He emphasized the importance of rooting the project in India's past, particularly during the British Raj and the freedom struggle.
