Bengaluru Man Succeeds in Landmark Case Against Cinema Chain for Wasting Time on Ads

A 30-year-old Bengaluru man has successfully won a landmark case against PVR INOX cinemas for "wasting his time" due to too many pre-movie advertisements. Abhishek MR filed the suit against the cinema chain after a 25-minute wait for his movie to begin as a result of advertisements and trailers. The consumer court ordered in his favor, granting him Rs 65,000 as compensation and a Rs 1 lakh fine on PVR INOX. The court stressed that "time is money" and companies cannot make profits by wasting people's time. This ruling has the potential to become a precedent for other such cases and possibly alter the way cinemas deal with pre-movie advertisements.
