Bengaluru Welcomes Fifth U.S. Consulate: A New Era in Indo-American Relations

The United States has formally inaugurated its fifth consulate in India, in Bengaluru, as a significant step in furthering diplomatic relations. The consulate was inaugurated by U.S. Ambassador Eric Garcetti and India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, with the aim of furthering cooperation in technology, space, and defense sectors. With nearly 700 U.S. companies in the city, Bengaluru's role as a tech hub is underlined. Although visa services are not yet available, officials express commitment to expedite these processes soon. This development follows a promise made during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Washington in 2023.
