BHEL Secures 10-Year Agreement for Compressor Revamp in Fertilizer Sector

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has signed a strategic deal with Italy-based Nuovo Pignone International s.r.l. to work together on compressor refurbishment projects in India's fertilizer industry. This 10-year deal makes BHEL the preferred bidder for specified projects, while Nuovo Pignone is to be the nominated vendor.

Agreement Terms: The alliance will be aimed at strengthening BHEL's presence in the repair and maintenance segment of the fertilizer industry with an estimated 50% business share in monetary terms.

Strategic Significance: This association is not a case of equity transfer or joint venture creation, but rather a strategic alliance to take advantage of Nuovo Pignone's capabilities.

Business Performance: BHEL has just reported a 170% rise in net profit to ₹124 crore and a 32% increase in revenue to ₹7,277 crore during the third quarter.

Growth Prospects: The order inflow of the company increased by 167% to ₹6,860 crore, while its order book rose by 47% to ₹1.6 lakh crore.

The agreement points to BHEL's intent to increase its activities in key sectors such as fertilizers, in line with India's industrial growth goals.
