BPCL Unveils India's Most Expensive Refinery Project in Andhra Pradesh at ₹95,000 Crore

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art oil refinery and petrochemical complex in Andhra Pradesh, with an estimated investment of ₹95,000 crore, marking it as India's most costly refinery endeavor to date. 

Project Highlights:
Capacity: The proposed facility will have a refining capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum, producing approximately 3–3.5 million tonnes of fuels such as petrol and diesel, and 3.8–4 million tonnes of petrochemical feedstock annually. 

Pre-Project Activities: BPCL's board has sanctioned ₹6,100 crore for initial activities, including land acquisition, detailed project reports, and feedstock studies. 

Strategic Location: The coastal refinery will span around 6,000 acres, with land identification currently underway. 

Financial Support: The Andhra Pradesh government is expected to provide substantial capital subsidies to support the venture. 

This ambitious project aligns with India's strategy to enhance its refining capacity to meet rising energy demands and establish itself as a global refining hub.
