Bridging Progress: Kolkata’s Orange Line Gets a Boost at Chingrighata

The much-anticipated Orange Line of Kolkata Metro is nearing a significant milestone as Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) begins bridging the last major viaduct gap at Chingrighata. This 366-meter stretch, located along the EM Bypass, has long been a bottleneck in the 29-km New Garia–Airport corridor. According to officials, traffic blocks will be enforced on the second and third weekends of November to facilitate the lifting of concrete piers and girder launching. Once completed, this will enable uninterrupted movement along the Orange Line, which is currently operational between New Garia and Beleghata. The state government’s support has been instrumental in accelerating the project, with full connectivity expected by 2026.
