The Government of India has launched the National AI Skilling Initiative to train 15,000 creators and media professionals for free, in partnership with Google and YouTube. The program will provide AI literacy, Google Career Certificates, and hands-on training in animation, gaming, VFX, and digital storytelling, aiming to boost India’s creative economy.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the initiative on March 23, 2026. The program will be implemented through the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) and rolled out in two phases across major Indian cities. The goal is to empower creators with AI-driven tools and skills to compete globally.
Training Structure
• Phase 1 (March–June 2026) – AI literacy modules, Google Career Certificates, and foundational training.
• Phase 2 (July–December 2026) – Hands-on workshops with Gemini, Vertex AI, and YouTube success strategies.
• Focus areas: animation, gaming, VFX, content production, and digital storytelling.
