EV Component Foray: The Chakan facility’s delivery marks Hindalco’s official entry into the high-tech EV component market, expanding its portfolio beyond traditional aluminium products to advanced solutions like battery enclosures, motor housings, and busbars.
Capacity Expansion: Riding on robust demand, Hindalco plans to double the plant’s production capacity to 160,000 battery enclosures per year, positioning itself as a key supplier for India’s rapidly growing EV industry.
Innovation & Sustainability: Leveraging deep expertise in metallurgy and aluminium rolling, Hindalco is also investing ₹800 crore in a new battery foil plant in Odisha, set to be operational by July 2025. The facility will supply critical materials for lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries, further strengthening the EV supply chain.
