Chobi Mela XI Returns To Dhaka With Global Lens On Renewal

Chobi Mela XI, the International Festival of Photography, has officially opened in Dhaka, Bangladesh, reaffirming its reputation as one of the most influential cultural events in South Asia. Organized by Drik Picture Library and Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, the festival runs from January 16 to 31, 2026, bringing together artists, curators, and audiences from around the world.  

This year’s theme, “Re,” resonates with ideas of renewal, rebuilding, and resilience, reflecting the power of photography to document, challenge, and reimagine narratives. The festival features nine exhibitions across five venues, including the Bangladesh National Museum, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Alliance Française de Dhaka, DrikPath Bhobon, and the Bangladesh National Parliament, which hosts an outdoor exhibition.
