Coal India Maintains Ban on IDL Explosives Over Supply Shortfall

Coal India has upheld its punitive action against IDL Explosives, a subsidiary of GOCL Corporation, barring the company from securing new contracts for a period of two years. The decision stems from IDL’s failure to meet tender conditions related to local content requirements in its supplies.  

Despite the ban, existing contracts for cartridge explosives and bulk explosives remain unaffected, with deliveries scheduled until May 2025 and October 2025, respectively. GOCL Corporation has acknowledged the challenges posed by inadequate domestic supply of ammonium nitrate, a key raw material, which necessitated imports to maintain uninterrupted deliveries.  

The company remains optimistic about resolving the matter with Coal India, emphasizing its commitment to business continuity and regulatory compliance. GOCL’s board has deliberated on the issue and is exploring avenues to address concerns while ensuring minimal operational disruptions.
