Confidential IPOs: The New Trend in India

Indian firms are increasingly using SEBI's pre-filing route in confidence for IPOs to safeguard sensitive business data and have market timing flexibility. Recent instances include Indira IVF, which pre-filed for a ₹3,500 crore IPO, and boAt, seeking a ₹2,000 crore issue. This follows the lead of companies such as Swiggy and Tata Play. Launched in November 2022, the confidential filing mechanism enables firms to evaluate market conditions in private before making their public offerings, shunning early scrutiny and possible risks.
