Credit Where It's Due: Women Score Big on Financial Independence

Recent studies reveal a spurt in women actively keeping an eye on their credit well-being, with 27 million Indian women following their credit scores by December 2024, an increase of 42% against the last year. This trend is most robust among young women, with Gen Z and Millennials at the forefront. Women are using this financial knowledge to negotiate improved terms on loans, become more creditworthy, and finance entrepreneurial activities. Increased credit monitoring is being turned into action, and 13.49% of women are new loan account openings with one month of checking their score. This increasing financial sophistication is empowering women to take ownership of their economic futures and close the gap in financial freedom between men and women.
