Delhi's Aviation Jewel: Revamped T1 Ready to Dazzle with World-Class Facilities

Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) announced today that the new Terminal 1 (T1) at Indira Gandhi International Airport will be fully operational from April 15, 2025. It's the culmination of Terminal 1's expansion and modernization as part of an extensive Phase 3A project. All flights that are currently being operated from Terminal 2 (T2) will relocate to Terminal 1, allowing T2 to close temporarily for refurbishment work. 

 

After the completion of the project, Terminal 1 will be a fully operational terminal for passengers flying with airlines who have had a temporary home in Terminal 2. The expanded Terminal 1 will have capacity for 40 million passengers per year. Additionally, new technologies, such as 100 check-in counters with self-service kiosks, improved baggage handling systems, and other developments, feature alongside the expanded terminal footprint of 55,740 sq m to 206,950 sq m, combining arrival and departure areas centralized at the terminal.

 

Airlines have been notified of the airport's operational plans and are making preparations for the transition. Overall, the work will enhance the terminal's operations at Delhi Airport, improving airport efficiencies.
