Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp also called on India on March 31-April 1, 2025, his first official visit to support multifaceted connections.
He had delegation-level discussions with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, with bilateral cooperation on trade, investments, defence, and innovation, as well as world and regional issues of mutual interest.

Business Seminar to Unleash Growth

The "India-Netherlands Business Seminar: Unlocking Growth Opportunities" was convened in The Hague on March 12, 2025, and was attended by more than 125 government representatives, business representatives, and industry leaders.
The seminar featured logistics, efficiency, and sustainability, and also featured opportunities in infrastructure, agriculture, health, technology, and renewable energy.

Key Areas of Cooperation

Trade and Investment Expansion

The Netherlands is India's fourth-largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) with cumulative inflows amounting to USD 52 billion since April 2000.
Two-way trade has increased significantly, with Indian exports to the Netherlands increasing at a compound annual rate of 28% during the last five years. The Netherlands is India's third-largest export market now.
Key export items are refined petroleum oil, and imports consist of soya bean oil and electronic components.

Innovation and Technology

The two countries are making bold deals in high-technology areas like semiconductors, digital technology, renewable energy, and green hydrogen.
The future India-EU free trade agreement, likely to be inked this year, is set to dramatically enhance two-way trade and technology ties.

Sectoral Cooperation

Strategic alliances are being forged in agriculture (including Centers of Excellence), healthcare, water management, and clean energy.
Defence cooperation is being improved, especially at maritime security levels, with special emphasis on including Indian vendors within Dutch supply chains as well as facilitating cooperation within high-tech domains such as semiconductors and clean energy.
