The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has debunked viral claims of a fare hike following BJP's recent election victory in Delhi. DMRC clarified that no fare revision has taken place, stating that fares can only be changed by an independent Fare Fixation Committee nominated by the government. Currently, there is no proposal to form such a committee. The confusion arose from a recent fare increase in Bengaluru Metro, where the maximum fare rose from ₹60 to ₹90. DMRC emphasized that Delhi Metro fares have remained unchanged for the past 6-7 years. This fact-check aims to dispel misinformation circulating on social media platforms.
