Festive Closures Ahead: RBI Releases October 2025 Bank Holiday Calendar With State-Wise Details

As India enters its peak festive season, the Reserve Bank of India has issued the official bank holiday calendar for October 2025, outlining national and regional closures across public, private, cooperative, and rural banks. With major festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja lined up, customers are advised to plan banking activities in advance to avoid disruptions in branch-based services.

Key Highlights From The RBI Holiday List

- All banks will remain closed on Sundays and on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month  
- October 1: Banks closed in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Odisha, Assam, Sikkim, West Bengal, Kerala, Bihar, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Uttar Pradesh for Dussehra, Ayudha Pooja, and Durga Puja  
- October 2: Nationwide closure for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti  
- October 3–4: Sikkim observes Durga Puja holidays  
- October 6: Lakshmi Puja closures in Tripura and West Bengal  
- October 7: Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti and Kumar Purnima observed in Karnataka, Odisha, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh  
- October 10: Karva Chauth holiday in Himachal Pradesh  
- October 18: Kati Bihu observed in Assam  
- October 20–23: Diwali, Naraka Chaturdashi, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Dooj lead to staggered closures across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and other states  
- October 27–28: Chhath Puja holidays in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal  
- October 31: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary observed in Gujarat

- Cheque clearing, passbook updates, and in-person services will be unavailable on closure days
