Festive Rush on Track: Railways to Run 138 Special Trains for Christmas & New Year

To manage the surge in passenger traffic during the Christmas and New Year holidays, Indian Railways has announced the operation of 138 special trains, comprising 650 trips across nine railway zones. The initiative is aimed at easing congestion and ensuring smoother travel for passengers heading to hometowns and tourist destinations.

According to the Ministry of Railways, 244 trips have already been notified, with more schedules to be announced in the coming days. The Western Railway zone will operate the highest share, with 26 special trains and 226 approved trips, while Central Railway has planned 18 trains with 118 trips. Other zones, including South Central Railway and South East Central Railway, will also contribute to the festive services.
