Flood Prevention Revolution: India Enhances Flash Flood Guidance Across South Asia

India is going to upgrade its Flash Flood Guidance System (FFGS) to better service South Asia with the aim of saving lives and property in the face of increasing climate-related disasters. The system will extend support to neighboring countries such as Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka with timely flood warnings up to 24 hours in advance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is committed to supporting its neighbors in times of emergencies, an example of regional cooperation in disaster management. The expansion is necessary because flash floods are a serious threat in the region due to extreme weather patterns.
