From Mumbai to Johannesburg: India's 27-Step Stairway to Cricket Heaven

Fresh from their triumph in the Champions Trophy, Team India turns its attention towards the 2027 ODI World Cup to be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. The Men in Blue have a full schedule of 27 ODI matches during the long run-up to the tournament, starting with a series against Bangladesh in August-September 2025. Other significant fixtures involve tours to Australia and England as well as home series against South Africa, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, and India's first-ever bilateral ODI series against Afghanistan. The extended buildup comes on the heels of India's recent success in white-ball cricket, winning both the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy. With stars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli still in the mix, India hopes to further proselytize the setup and devise its weapons for going ambush in the World Cup.
