From Policy To Precision: India Launches AI Curriculum To Strengthen Governance Training

On April 15, 2026, Union Minister Jitendra Singh unveiled plans for an AI-driven curriculum to modernize governance training. The initiative seeks to integrate artificial intelligence into public administration education, ensuring officials are equipped to deliver efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric governance.

Curriculum Vision

The proposed curriculum will focus on AI applications in policy-making, service delivery, and administrative efficiency. It aims to train civil servants, policymakers, and governance professionals in using AI tools for data-driven decision-making, predictive analytics, and citizen engagement.

Institutional Role

The Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) will serve as the central institution for developing and implementing the curriculum. Collaborations are expected with the Capacity Building Commission, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), and LBSNAA, ensuring a coordinated national effort.

Singh emphasized the need for partnerships with private sector firms, the armed forces, and public representatives, reflecting an integrated approach to governance training. This inclusive model is designed to ensure that AI adoption in governance is both ethical and people-centric.

The AI curriculum aligns with India’s broader vision of “AI for Sushasan (Good Governance)”, reinforcing the country’s commitment to digital transformation.
