From Promising Talent to RecordBreaker Abhishek Sharma's Meteoric Rise - Meet the Star Player

At just 24 years old, Abhishek Sharma has emerged as a formidable force in Indian cricket. Born in Amritsar, Punjab, he is known for his explosive batting and left-arm orthodox spin bowling. 
His parents have been supportive of his cricketing aspirations from a young age. Abhishek's passion for cricket ignited when he was just three and a half years old. He honed his skills playing for various age-group teams in Punjab and attended Delhi Public School for his education. His childhood friendship with fellow cricketer Shubman Gill began when they opened the innings together for Punjab in Under-14 cricket.
He captained the India U-19 team to victory in the 2018 U-19 World Cup and scored crucial runs during the tournament. He made his first-class debut for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy on October 6, 2017. Over the years, he has played for various teams including Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. His IPL journey began with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2018, where he showcased his talent by scoring 46 runs off just 19 balls in his debut match.
Abhishek's international career took flight when he made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe on July 6, 2024. In just his second T20I match, he scored a remarkable century, becoming one of the fastest Indian batsmen to achieve this feat. His recent performance of 135 runs against England has set him apart as Team India's highest individual scorer in T20 internationals.
Throughout his journey, Abhishek has been mentored by legendary cricketer Yuvraj Singh. Their bond developed during their time playing first-class cricket for Punjab. Yuvraj's guidance has been instrumental in shaping Abhishek's aggressive batting style, reminiscent of Yuvraj's own explosive approach to the game.
