Government Secures Record Dividend from PSUs, Urges Private Sector and Mutual Funds to Follow Suit

India’s public sector undertakings (PSUs) have delivered an unprecedented dividend payout in FY25, with the government receiving INR 740.17 billion from these enterprises. The total dividend from state-run firms reached a record INR 1.5 trillion, marking a significant boost to non-tax revenue collections.

- The dividend receipts from PSUs in FY25 surged by 16 percent compared to the previous year, reflecting strong profitability.  
- Major contributors included Coal India, ONGC, and Indian Oil Corporation, which collectively accounted for a substantial portion of the payouts.
