Contract Details

HBL Engineering got the LoA from IRCON International for the supply of the Kavach system in the Bangalore and Mysore zones of South Western Railway.
The project entails 85 stations, 778 kilometers, and two locomotives.
The contract value is ₹101.55 crore (₹1.02 billion).
The project has to be completed within 18 months from the date of issue of LoA.

About the Kavach System

Kavach is India's domestic Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system to improve railway safety by avoiding train collisions and ensuring safe train running.
The system will be implemented on key railway corridors, further enhancing the safety network of Indian Railways.

Strategic Significance

The contract consolidates HBL Engineering as a prominent player in the Indian railway electronics and safety market.
HBL Engineering is one of the select few eligible companies to implement Kavach orders for Indian Railways, in addition to companies such as KEC International, Kernex Microsystems, RailTel, and Siemens.

HBL Engineering posted a consolidated net profit of ₹64.61 crore during Q3 FY25, although this was a 18.3% year-on-year decline.
The revenue from operations of the company dipped 24.8% YoY to ₹450.56 crore in Q3 FY25.
After the announcement, the share price of HBL Engineering witnessed a positive trend, closing 1.59% up at ₹563.90 on the BSE.
