Highway to Hygiene: State and NHAI Unite to Flush Away Toilet Troubles for Women Travelers

In a major step towards improving safety and convenience for women travelers, the state is going to construct toilets at intervals of 25-50 km on highways. This comes after the NHAI had also initiated efforts to construct wayside amenities at intervals of 40-60 km, including public toilets, to enhance commuting. The Bombay High Court has also ordered municipal corporations to construct toilets for women along main roads. These initiatives focus on rectifying the shortage of toilet facilities, especially for women tourists, and improving maintenance through private collaboration.
