Incomplete Check Dam Project in Kathua: 15 Years of Delays

A check dam project in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, remains incomplete despite 15 years of construction and an expenditure of Rs 22 crore. The project, which was 70% complete, was halted due to land disputes and a rejected Detailed Project Report by the Central Water Commission. BJP MLA Bharat Bhushan has raised concerns about the project's status, urging the government to devise a strategy for its completion. Efforts are underway to prepare a new proposal addressing site changes, aiming to finally complete the project. The delay has prolonged water woes in the region, affecting local agriculture and development.
