India, A Solar Superpower? UN Pushes for Faster Renewable Transition

UN Climate Change Chief Simon Stiell has called on India to expedite its shift towards renewable energy, highlighting the nation's status as a "solar superpower" with over 100 gigawatts of installed solar capacity. Stiell emphasized that increasing clean energy investments by 2% of GDP annually could create approximately 13 million jobs per year in India. He urged the country to submit a more ambitious climate action plan to further integrate clean energy into its economy, positioning it as a leader in global climate efforts.
