India: Blackstone's New Playground for Credit and Infrastructure Billions

Global private equity giant Blackstone has announced plans to expand its operations in India by launching credit and infrastructure investment businesses. Chairman Stephen A Schwarzman revealed that the firm, which has been in India for two decades, aims to double its exposure in the country to $100 billion. Blackstone sees India as its best-performing market globally, with returns of around 40% annually. The new businesses will deal in physical and digital infrastructure projects, such as transport assets such as airports, ports, and roads. The credit business will fund corporate acquisitions as well as stake buys. The expansion reflects Blackstone's belief in India's long-term growth story and evolving business environment.
