India Joins the Race to Host AFC Asian Cup 2031

India has officially submitted its bid to host the prestigious AFC Asian Cup 2031, aiming to bring a major football tournament back to the country for the first time since the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is among seven bidders vying for the hosting rights, alongside nations like Australia, Indonesia, South Korea, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as a joint bid from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.  

This record-breaking number of bids reflects the growing stature of the AFC Asian Cup as one of the world's premier football competitions. The AFC will now evaluate the bids and work closely with the bidding nations to ensure compliance with established timelines and processes. The final decision on the host country will be made by the AFC Congress in 2026.  

This development underscores India's growing confidence in its capacity to host international sporting events and its commitment to promoting football at the highest level.
