India Limits Inspection Certificate Requirement for Rice Exports to Select EU Nations and Adjacent Countries

India announced a significant update in rice export protocols, limiting the mandatory inspection certificate requirement to only certain European Union (EU) member states and a few neighboring countries, effective immediately. Key Updates

Certificate of Inspection from Export Inspection Council/Agency is now required only for rice exports to EU member states plus the UK, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein

Other European countries are exempted from this inspection certificate obligation for six months, easing export formalities temporarily

The policy applies to both basmati and non-basmati rice exports, aligning with DGFT Notification No. 62/2024-25 dated March 10, 2025

Exporters must register contracts online with APEDA to secure the Registration-Cum-Allocation Certificate before shipment
