India to Incorporate Copper, Zinc, Gold, and Silver in Exploration Licence Blocks

India's Mines Secretary declared that exploration licence blocks will have crucial minerals like copper, zinc, gold, and silver. This is a step towards the government's move to increase exploration and mining of deep-seated and critical minerals in India. The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2023, brought into effect the new exploration licence regime for 29 minerals listed, which include these precious metals. The move is meant to attract the private sector to participate and benefit from global expertise in mineral exploration. The move is part of India's vision for energy transition and reaching a net-zero carbon emissions target by 2070.
