India-UAE Strategic Partnership Gets Defence And Energy Upgrade

India-UAE Relations Enter Next Phase  

During the visit, PM Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reviewed the comprehensive strategic partnership and announced new initiatives spanning defence, hydrocarbons, renewables and critical infrastructure. The outreach comes amid heightened West Asia tensions, where stable energy ties and trusted security partners are crucial for India.  

Defence, Security And Technology Cooperation  

The two sides agreed to expand defence industrial collaboration, with greater focus on co-development, joint production and technology sharing. Enhanced maritime security coordination, joint exercises and information-sharing are expected to boost interoperability and protect vital sea lanes used for India-UAE trade and energy flows.  

Energy Security And Investment Push  

Long-term agreements on LPG supply and cooperation on strategic petroleum reserves aim to strengthen India’s energy security and diversification. The UAE is also expected to scale up investments in Indian infrastructure, ports, renewable energy and logistics, supporting Make in India and positioning India as a hub for Gulf-Asia trade.
