India-UK Trade Talks to Resume Next Month, UK Minister to Travel Next Week

India and the UK will resume negotiations on the pending Free Trade Agreement (FTA) from February 24, 2025. UK Trade Minister Douglas Alexander will travel to India next week to meet with Union Minister Piyush Goyal. The negotiations will be aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and investments by cutting tariffs and opening up market access. The FTA, spanning 26 chapters on goods, services, and investment, has the potential to enhance economic collaboration immensely. The last round of negotiations was suspended in May 2024 because of UK elections. Both nations are negotiating a comprehensive pact to deepen their economic relationship.
