India Unleashes Semiconductor Power: 50% Funding to Fuel Innovation and Growth

The Indian government has made a major commitment to finance the country's semiconductor sector. The government will offer fiscal assistance of up to 50% of the cost of the project to qualifying applicants under the Scheme for Setting up of Semiconductor Fabs in India. The initiative is meant to draw in major investments and bolster India's electronics manufacturing environment. The assistance will be provided on a pari-passu basis to approved firms having the requisite technology and infrastructure to implement these capital-dollar requiring projects. This initiative is part of India's overall strategy of positioning itself as a world hub for electronics manufacturing and design with an overall commitment of Rs. 2,30,000 crore (USD 30 billion) under different schemes.
