Indian Railways Celebrates Historic Milestone: 100 Years of Electric Trains

Indian Railways is set to commemorate a century of electric train operations on February 3, 2025. The momentous journey began in 1925 when the first electric train ran from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Kurla in Mumbai. Central Railway has planned numerous events to mark this historic occasion, including a special train run, launch of a commemorative logo, and technical seminars. This celebration not only honors the railways' rich legacy but also highlights its commitment to sustainability and modernization, with recent achievements including 97% electrification of its broad-gauge network.
