Renowned for its mound-building nesting behavior, this scarce bird is confined to the Nicobar Islands.

5. Andaman Woodpecker (Dryocopus hodgei)

A resplendent black woodpecker with a red crown, the Andaman Woodpecker is an island specialist par excellence.

6. Jerdon's Courser (Rhinoptilus bitorquatus)

One of the world's most threatened birds, rediscovered in Andhra Pradesh, it inhabits open scrub—remaining elusive and greatly threatened.

7. White-bellied Blue Robin (Sholicola albiventris)
