India's coal sector demonstrated remarkable resilience as production reached 104.43 million tonnes (MT) in January 2025, marking a significant 4.38% increase from 100.05 MT in January 2024. The growth was particularly driven by Captive and Commercial entities, which saw an impressive 31.07% surge to 19.68 MT. The cumulative coal production up to January 2025 has reached 830.66 MT, showing a robust 5.88% year-on-year growth. This sustained growth in coal production underscores India's commitment to meeting its rising energy demands and industrial growth targets.
