India's Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved proposals worth about Rs 79,000 crore, aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. In a significant move to bolster India's defence infrastructure, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) approved acquisition proposals totaling approximately Rs 79,000 crore. These approvals address critical needs across all armed services to improve readiness and operational effectiveness.

The Indian Army will procure Thermal Imager-based Driver Night Sights for BMP vehicles, enhancing night driving capability and battlefield mobility. For the Navy, approvals include Compact Autonomous Surface Craft for anti-submarine warfare, BrahMos Fire Control Systems, and upgrades to the BARAK-1 Point Defence Missile System, thus strengthening maritime defence.

The Air Force will benefit from Mountain Radars to boost surveillance along mountainous borders and upgrades to the SAKSHAM/SPYDER weapon systems, integrating with the Integrated Air Command and Control System to enhance air defence.

A tri-service acquisition of Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPAs) will expand surveillance and combat capabilities with longer-range and multi-payload capacities. Further, sustainment contracts for C-17 and C-130J fleets and maintenance for the S-400 air defence missile system ensure sustained operational readiness.
