India's E-Waste Crisis: A $6 Billion Opportunity for Circular Economy

India's mounting e-waste challenge presents a lucrative $6 billion economic opportunity by 2025, according to recent reports. As the world's third-largest e-waste producer, India is expected to generate 5.2 million metric tons of e-waste by 2025, a 72.54% increase from 2019-20. This surge underscores the urgent need for a robust circular economy approach. With only 22% of e-waste properly recycled, the potential for job creation, resource conservation, and environmental protection is immense. The government's initiatives, including the National Resource Efficiency Policy and Mission LiFE, aim to transform this crisis into a sustainable economic opportunity, promoting recycling and refurbishment sectors.
