India’s Largest E-Bus Tender Draws Big Players: Tata Motors, JBM in the Race

Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL), a government agency under the Ministry of Power, will float a mega tender for 10,900 electric buses across major Indian cities including Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Surat, and Ahmedabad. The initiative is part of India’s push to electrify public transport and reduce urban emissions. The tender will include AC and non-AC variants across Standard Floor, Low Floor, and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) categories.

Industry giants such as Tata Motors, JBM Auto, and several other domestic and international firms are expected to participate. Bengaluru will receive the largest allocation with 4,500 buses, followed by Delhi with 2,800. The move is expected to boost manufacturing, create jobs, and accelerate India’s clean mobility goals.
