India's space ambitions received a significant boost in the 2025-26 Union Budget, with a ₹13,416.20 crore allocation to the Department of Space. This investment aims to propel India's space economy to $44 billion by 2033, capturing 8% of the global market. The budget introduces a ₹1,000 crore venture capital fund for space-tech startups and eliminates customs duties on satellite components. With over 200 space startups now operating in India, these initiatives are set to accelerate technological advancements, foster public-private partnerships, and strengthen India's position as a global leader in cost-effective space exploration.
