India's Winter Sports Awakening: Khelo India Games Make History

The Khelo India Winter Games 2025 at Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, have seen magnificent performances by participants from all over India. Himachal Pradesh's Tenzin Dolma won gold in the women's vertical ski mountaineering race, and Maharashtra's Siddharth Gadekar won gold in the men's event. Jammu and Kashmir's Zubair Ahmad Lone also won gold in the men's giant slalom snowboard event. Indian Army has dominated Nordic skiing, and Manjeet bagged gold in men's sprint. The games have united more than 800 athletes, highlighting India's emerging strength in winter sports. The tournament features such events as alpine skiing, snowboarding, and ice hockey, which serve as a platform for young Indians to get international exposure. This year's installment has witnessed a strong surge in the number of participants and competition, indicating a promising future for Indian winter sports.
