Indo-Pacific Priorities: India And Japan Advance Bilateral Ties With Strategic Dialogue

The Japanese delegation, led by senior lawmaker Takayuki Kobayashi, called on Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in New Delhi. The meeting highlighted the enduring strength of India-Japan ties and explored new avenues for collaboration across strategic and economic sectors.

Economic Engagement

Earlier in the day, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met the delegation to discuss enhancing MSME partnerships, infrastructure, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, and advanced manufacturing. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening trade and investment ties, with emphasis on expanding market access and boosting exports under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). 

Strategic And Political Cooperation

The delegation also interacted with BJP leaders, including party president Nitin Nabin, to strengthen party-to-party engagement. Discussions focused on security cooperation, defence collaboration, and flagship projects such as the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail, which symbolizes the depth of bilateral ties. 

Indo-Pacific Vision

Both sides emphasized that India-Japan cooperation is vital for regional stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific. The partnership is rooted in shared democratic values and civilizational links, with leaders agreeing to expand people-to-people exchanges and institutional cooperation.
