Public Servants Shine As GST & Customs Beat Bollywood’s Mumbai Heroes In Friendly Match

Organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) under the Fit India Movement, the match brought together government officials, film personalities, fitness influencers, and sports enthusiasts. The initiative aimed to highlight the importance of active living and mental well-being through sports.

Match Highlights

The GST & Customs Amateur Team won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a competitive total of 170/5 in 20 overs. Akhilesh Kumar top-scored with 57 runs off 55 balls, while Parag Khanapurkar added a quickfire 45 off 21 balls. In reply, the Mumbai Heroes struggled against disciplined bowling, losing early wickets including Sohail Khan and captain Suniel Shetty. Despite resistance from Navdeep Tomar (42 runs), the team fell short of the target.

Event Significance

The match was graced by Prachi Saroop, Principal Chief Commissioner (CGST), Mumbai, as Chief Guest, and BB Gupta, Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Zone-III, as Guest of Honour. Officials emphasized that such events encourage a culture of fitness among citizens and strengthen bonds between public servants and the community.
