Indonesia Officially Joins BRICS as Full Member

Brazil declared that Indonesia is now an official member of the BRICS bloc, a major group of emerging economies. This decision was taken by the leaders of BRICS at the summit in August 2023. It was the first country to join the bloc since its expansion started. With more than 277 million people and a powerful economy, Indonesia wants to help reform global governance and deepen cooperation among developing nations. Brazil, a holder of presidency in 2025, views this one as taking yet another step forward toward strengthening the South.
