IPL 2025 Security Concerns: KKR vs LSG Match Likely to Be Rescheduled

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 6 at Eden Gardens is likely to be rescheduled due to security concerns. The city police have declined to provide security clearance as the match coincides with Ram Navami celebrations, during which over 20,000 processions are expected across West Bengal. This has led to heightened security requirements statewide, making it impossible to accommodate a 65,000-strong crowd without adequate police protection. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about the situation, with a final decision pending. Last year, a similar IPL match was rescheduled due to Ram Navami security concerns. Meanwhile, Eden Gardens will host the IPL 2025 opener between KKR and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22, featuring a grand opening ceremony.
